Here’s your four minute, forty two second training video of everything a ‘creative-type’ will ever need to know about working in television. It’s training for copywriters in a hurry!

Yes, it’s a rip off of Baz Luhrmann’s Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen; but of course that’s just a kind of mash-up of Sisterlove’s The Hypnotist and Mary Schmidt’s brilliant op-ed Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young.

This spot was written by me on a long flight back from a US Promax conference where I was inspired (by Monty Python’s The Meaning Of Life) to think of how to cram everything you need to know about creativity into the shortest training seminar possible. I didn’t fully realise it at the time, but in reflection I can see it’s really a riff on process.

The spot screened at the inaugural Australian Promax Conference way back in 1999; and while it was only supposed to be a bit of a laugh, I think it still holds up pretty well.
